Divide and Conker

The game of ‘Conkers’ was an annual event played out in most school yards when I was still a lad. Contenders would present their would-be ‘champion’, strung on a shoelace or twine, held aloft for an opponent to fight to the death with his/her own conker. The surviving conker would claim a life and its tally would be added to previously beaten opponents. Any subsequent contender beating the champion would take on their amassed lives and face the next contender.

Sadly, the game has been banned from most schools because of health and safety concerns.

NOTE: The chestnut in the video is different from the one pictured above.
